Turkey's First Ecological Building: Istanbul Sapphire

A revolutionary building is currently rising in the heart of the Istanbul, Turkey. Strategically located in the Levent central business district is Istanbul Sapphire. Upon completion, the tower will be the first environmentally friendly building in Turkey and one of the most innovative in the world.

Standing at a height of 261 m (856 ft), Istanbul Sapphire will be the one of the tallest buildings in Turkey when complete. Comprised of 64 stories, the tower’s total construction area is 157,800 m². Included is a shopping mall, fitness center, spa, restaurants, viewing terrace and luxurious residential units with several communal living floors.

Among the tower's environmental features are specialized floors with private gardens between every 3 floors and special glass facades that naturally take in outside air. Absorption of sunlight will be monitored by a special curtain system that's automatically controlled through a computer.

Istanbul Sapphire will be the one of the strongest buildings in Istanbul with the latest construction technology. The project has proved its quality by being a finalist in the Dubai Cityscape Exposition that includes 31 countries and 300 projects.

Istanbul Sapphire is being developed by Biskon Construction at a cost of approximately US $150 million.
